In case you missed the major announcement yesterday, Linden Lab released its beta of the new Second Life Viewer. The launch itself was noteworthy as it used social media and the Building 43 team to create buzz and offer a great demo and interview between Robert Scoble and Linden Lab, CEO Mark Kingdon.
The new viewer is the beginning of the next era of Second Life which will feature even more integration with the social web, more development tools, and more collaboration tools. I am excited by these developments. Although we never did think SL needed a "second life", we have found it to be a terrific environment for training and collaboration. Then there is the first ever Accounting music video produced in Second Life and released on Valentine's Day, If I were an auditor.
Check out the interview with Scoble and Kingdon, check out the detailed description on the Second Life blog, then download the new viewer here. I downloaded it and installed with no problems, love the interface and starting to figure out all of the new features.
We were the first CPA presence in SL (since 2007) and now have two islands (CPA Island & CPA Island 2) dedicated to training, meeting, and an accounting education pavilion for students and educators. Look for our group in world, SLACPA (Second Life Association of CPAs).
